Amazing result from Cruciate Surgery: Mollie Linnett
After a very competitive game of frisbee, I noticed a slight limp in our Frisbee champion, Ivy. I almost immediately suspected she had torn her cruciate, and a set of x-rays unfortunately confirmed it.
Working with Dr. Hogben meant that I had heard all about this new 'you beaut’ method of cruciate repair, known as the Securos Pros/Boss Implant Technique. Putting my full trust in Ian, we went ahead with the surgery just 4 days after the injury (we needed our champion back ASAP!).
The surgery went really well and I was amazed with the results, almost immediately!
During the first 48hrs she was totally zonked with pain relief (which is to be expected), however, by day three she was standing in her confinement cage and itching to get out! I noticed by the end of the week that when taking her out to the toilet that she was using the leg really well -already! Having seen plenty of cruciate surgery patients come through the doors of the vet clinic, I was absolutely flabbergasted with the results. By day 10 she was almost using the leg normally! I actually had to physically try and slow her down. Due to her over exuberance I decided to keep her confined for an additional week, just to be safe.
It is now three months after her surgery, and without a word of a lie, I often forget which leg she had her surgery on!
The hair has grown back and covered the scar, and watching her, you would never know. I am absolutely amazed with the results and I am so pleased to know that the surgery is not causing her any discomfort and hasn’t done for some time.
(This photo and the one above were taken only 3-4 weeks after the surgery and already Ivy is placing equal weight on both legs, even when she sits she does favour her leg that had surgery - this is an outstanding result and what we have seen with every cruciate surgery using the new Isometric technique. - Ed)
We now have our Frisbee champion back, however our tournaments are MUCH more tame to ensure we don’t have to have surgery on the other leg!
A BIG Thankyou from Mollie & Ivy
