Our daughter, Ella, had borrowed my wife, Ali's, diamante earrings (yes.. I am guilty of not buying her the 'real' thing!!) but when she went to return them, she could not find either the earrings, nor the tulle material bag they were in! An extensive search was undertaken, to no avail. They literally had just disappeared from her bed room!
Sometime later that day we heard a familiar sound … a sound almost all cat owners know well … the sound of a 'heaving' cat.
And as all cat owners with an occasionally heaving cat knows, they specifically target carpet or rugs, the more prominent a position, or the more expensive, the better! I located one of our two Burmese cats, Schubert about to vomit on the dining room rug.
I hustled him into the laundry before he could empty his stomach contents on a surface that would be difficult to clean up … thinking of myself first, and not poor Schubert! And to my surprise I noted something material-like amongst the puddle of semi-digested breakfast at my feet.
Schubert eyed me … was it guilt from vomiting on the floor … or … guilt from something else?
Using a fork, I removed the material-thing and immediately recognised the tulle material little bag, and as I rinsed it, I could clearly see the two diamante earrings!!!!!!!
MYSTERY SOLVED: We have a Cat Burglar in the house … NOW …. If ONLY I could put his skills to good use !
